The store, in its present form
was constructed in 1985 in some old outbuildings opposite the National
Trust Information Centre at Morvich.
A large garage and equipment room with a comms/ base corner was added
several years later.
With two landrovers, dedicated rescue equipment such as stretchers,
500 foot ropes, vacuum mattress, first-aid equipment, ropes, climbing
hardware, a comms/ operations corner and much more - we just do not
have enough space! Plus, if we have a major job on, we have to find
space for maybe 30 people and their personal gear, as well.
We need to have a drying area, kitchen, showers and a rest area for
when there is a long rescue.
With the high standards we set ourselves, which are attained by all
Scottish Mountain Rescue Teams, we believe that a modern, well equipped
base is a necessity.

The base is situated on land
belonging to the National Trust for Scotland and we are in negotiations
with them over our plans to enlarge the present building. We are applying
to the Order Of St. John for funding and hope to have a decision from
them very shortly.
